Our Scope of Activities

Non-Destructive Testing of Hardened Concrete

The nondestructive testing helps to evaluate the properties of the existing structures without disturbing.

Benefits of NDT are:

Time saving
Accurate and calculated results
Lower the total cost

Properties of concrete are influenced by many factors mainly due to mix proportion of cement, sand, aggregates and water. Ratio of these materials control the various concrete properties.
MOTABAQAH (CBML) offers the best quality service in terms of testing, mix designing, analysis of results related to concrete.

Different blends of cement used in construction are characterized by their physical properties. Some key parameters control the quality of cement.

NORMAL CONSISTENCY

INITIAL AND FINAL SETTING TIME BY VICAT APPARATUS

SOUNDNESS OF CEMENT

AUTOCLAVE TEST

FINENESS OF CEMENT (SPECIFIC SURFACE) BY BLAINE PERMEABILITY

COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF CEMENT MORTAR

FLEXURAL STRENGTH OF CEMENT MORTAR

CBML facilitates testing of the physical properties of cement.

The physical properties of good cement are based on:

Fineness of cement

Soundness

Consistency

Strength

Setting time

Heat of hydration

Loss of ignition

Bulk density

Specific gravity (Relative density)

Soil Testing

Soil due to its natural sizes and composition plays a vital role in the base of a structure. Suitable soil bears the load of the structure.
The coarser the grain the more bearing value it has, and the finer the grain is, the more voids it will fill. That is the reason a proper proportion of the sizes of the grains are important.

Aggregates Testing

Aggregates are materials extracted directly from the ground in quarries or pits. They can be either sand and gravel, or hard rock.
Geologically they can be:

  • Igneous rocks such as granite or basalt
  • Sedimentary rocks such as limestone or sandstone
  • Metamorphic rocks such as quartzite

  • MOISTURE CONTENT
  • SHELL CONTENT IN COARSE AGGREGATES
  • MATERIALS FINER THAN 0.075mm

BITUMEN

Bitumen is petroleum product which is basic part of the roads and pavement structural component. Bitumen is categorized in grades based on the temperature and weather condition of the region.

ASPHALT

Asphalt is the mixture of bitumen as binding material and the aggregates to assist in increasing the bearing pressure.
